Have you ever done something like this?

My latest favorite shirt to wear has a giraffe on it and it reads, "I was vegetarian before it was cool". I'm not vegetarian, I just liked the shirt. 

Well, this morning I was meeting with a doctor about my migraines. He asked how my life would be different if we were to figure out a trigger for my headaches. I said if foods weren't the problem then I would go back to eating the foods I like. He asked what they were so I said,"I like cheese and yogurt and avocados and I like barbeque chicken. I like to go to Rudy's to get some of their chopped or their brisket". 

It wasn't until I got into the car that I remembered I was wearing my latest favorite shirt.

Where We Met?
In the parking lot of Northern Exposure. I'd just finished my shift and he had just returned from checking in with his parole officer. Ha, I knew you wouldn't buy it. We met in Salt Lake City.


How long did we date before we were married?
Um, 8 months, I think? I'm not one for remembering that kind of stuff.


How long have we been married?
8 years in May, I think?


What is my favorite thing about him?
He is the best friend I have ever had. He is patient and he loves me thoroughly. I've learned more about the nature of God through the way Leighton loves me.


What is your favorite quality about him?
He has moral integrity and a sincere desire to fulfill his purpose in life.

What is his nickname for you?
Love.

I won't tolerate anything else.

His favorite food?
Um.... I don't really know. We haven't been together for SO long, I've forgotten what he eats.

His favorite sport?
Although he is a talented athlete, he's not really into sports, he prefers "take over the world and dominate" games.

Who said the "L" word first?
I have no idea. I'm not one for remembering things like that. I wouldn't be surprised if it was him.

First Kiss?
He kind of stole it. I didn't want to kiss him and he went for it anyway. I didn't smack him or knee him in the groin, even though I should have.


Favorite Couple thing to do?
Going for a walk/hike and talking. We also liked watching "Bones" together. That show made us laugh a lot.


How many kids We have?
2 One in S. America and O.

His hidden talent?
He loves to sing and dance. Ha ha ha, just kidding. If you know him, you'll know he is the most tone deaf and uncoordinated person in the world.

His hidden talent is... Wow, I'm not sure. We haven't really spent much time together this past year.


His age?
I think he's 35. Once again, I'm not one for remembering things like that. I forget my own age.


His favorite music?
Celine Dion and Fiddler on the Roof. (That's an inside joke).
He always surprises me with how many classic rock songs he knows.

What do You admire most about him?
He is a genuinely GOOD guy. He is a total geek, but he knows it and it works for him. He is a "big picture" kind of guy. He is always strategizing and looking forward.


His favorite past time?
Depends on the day. He loves to work with his hands and work in the yard. He also loves math, I know, geek. He will sometimes play computer games to decompress.


Will he read this?
Probably not.

I am surrounded by idiots!!

I need to get this off my chest. 

Texas has crappy massage therapists. Seriously, they suck.

The State only recently increased their schooling requirements to 500 hours for graduation. I've only had 3 massages since I've been here and ALL of them, including the one I just received, have been pathetic. Anyone, ANYONE could have done what I just received. I asked the therapist to do friction around the attachments and lots of petrissage in the belly of the muscle. NOT HARD AT ALL. 

I'm dying here. All of the therapists I've met up with are clueless about modalities other than swedish massage. I need some good injury/Trigger point work done on my right shoulder. Any therapist I worked with in UT could easily do it. After my session I chatted with the lead therapist at the clinic and he didn't even know there was such a thing as a National Certificate. He didn't believe me when I told him I was Nationally Certified. He told me there was no such thing. What a moron! 

I'm not really a massage snob, but I totally feel like I'm surrounded by massage idiots. When I visit family/friends this summer, I'm going to budget for a couple of sessions with competent therapists.

What do Missy Higgins, Lenka and Justin Nozuka have in common?

I saw them all perform on Friday. 

Sometime I'll write a post about how much I LOVE MUSIC, but for now, I'll just post a few pictures and some rambly jargon about how much I loved the concert.

I'd never heard of Lenka or Justin before. Lenka was actually pretty good and I bought her CD. Justin, on the other hand, was really boring. He didn't interact with the audience at all and all of his songs sounded the same. Missy was AMAZING!! I think she has some of the most amazing vocals I have ever heard. Some how, I was fortunate enough to be standing less than two feet from her keyboard. It was SO COOL!!! Seriously, I don't think I could have been in a better place. I was so close I could see the pores on her face. I got some great video and even took a few good pictures.

A glimpse of Djibouti

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a Container Living Unit? I admit, I was a bit curious myself. Leighton tried to explain the CLU over the phone but it just didn't make any sense until he sent a picture. I can't imagine living in a little box for a year. He's a better man than I am, then again, I'm not a man, so that doesn't make much sense. Okay, he's a better person than I am.
