In a few short weeks, they went from this
to this.
(You can see some of their adult feathers.)
And then we said goodbye.
I would say that time flew by, but that sounds a little too much like a bad pun. However, the truth is, it did go by very quickly. We were sad to see them go, but it was time for them to move on to "greener pastures". O knew from the beginning that we would only have them for a little while because when they got bigger, they would have to move in with someone who could let them play outside. She was really cool about the whole thing. When we were saying goodbye, O told C, "They're a little nervous about their new home". The following morning she came in my room to snuggle and the first comment out of her mouth was about the chicks. One thing she asked was, "Do you think they miss us"?
LT and I both enjoyed watching her with a "pet". One day, we may break down and get her a dog, an OUTSIDE dog. However, that is still YEARS way.
